Brett Favre's Nephew Dylan Favre a Football StarA High School Quarterback and Record-SetterSometimes it seems as if great athletic talent just runs in the family.
Brett Favre is a record-setting NFL quarterback who used to play for the Packers and is now a star on the New York Jets, and his nephew Dylan Favre appears to be following in his footsteps. Dylan Favre ProfileA quarterback at St. Stanlislaus High School in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, Dylan Favre is a potentially big-time college football prospect and a record-setting quarterback at the high school level. Dylan Favre is much smaller than his uncle Brett Favre at just 5-foot-10 and 175-180 pounds or so but he has Brett's accuracy and gunslinger mentality, serving him well on the football field. Dylan Favre Quarterback RecordsDylan Favre set the Mississippi state record for touchdown passes with 48 this season and also added eight rushing touchdowns on top of that record number to pad his stats according to the article highschool.rivals.com/content.asp, titled "Younger Favre Sets Mississippi State Record." These are some pretty impressive records to say the least and while many might counter them by saying it's only high school, numbers like that are simply too good to be ignored. And contrary to what the popular opinion might be in some circles, bloodlines and genetics do matter as has been proven time and time again. Just think about father/son sports combinations like Barry and Bobby Bonds, Peyton, Eli, and Archie Manning, and Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr. Even Kobe Bryant's father played in the NBA before him, Joe "Jelly Bean" Bryant, as did Jalen Rose's father Jimmy Walker (who played for the Detroit Pistons). In Rose's case, Walker wasn't even around to teach him the game but the genetic link between them was enough to make Jalen Rose a superior athlete. To be a quarterback, you can't have much better genes than Dylan Favre does as Brett Favre's nephew because Favre is one of the most naturally gifted QB's to ever play in the NFL as evidenced by his amazing arm strength. Brett Favre's Nephew Being Recruited? Many top SEC schools are listed as having some interested in Dylan Favre along with schools like Notre Dame and UCLA but his lack of size will hold him back a little bit. Some smaller QB's have succeed in the NFL including Doug Flutie and, most recently, Drew Brees. They have proven that they can be successful at the highest levels of football by moving around, having good pocket presence, and being accurate and timely in delivering the football and Dylan Favre possesses those qualities, at least in regards to the high school level of play. Dylan Favre has said that living up to the expectations of his uncle Brett Favre can be quite difficult as the opposing teams always give him their best shot, so maybe it will prove to be a good experience for him as he goes on to play college football. Regardless, keep an eye on Dylan Favre to see just how far this famous football name can take his career as a quarterback in the future.
