With the wildcard games over, the true contenders for the Lombardi Trophy emerge and the NFL playoffs get extremely competitive and unpredictable.

LaDainian Tomlinson vs Tom Brady, Peyton Manning vs Ravens defense! All sorts of scenerios, subplots and questions get thrown around at playoff time. Can LT conquer the Patriots defense and play like he has all season? Can Tom Brady do it again and send the Patriots back to the promised land? Can Peyton play like Peyton against the dominant defense of Baltimore and finally scratch that playoff itch?

All of these questions will be answered this weekend as the NFL playoffs get into high gear. AFC matchups seem to be much more competitive with the Indianapolis Colts taking on the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots against the San Diego Chargers. It's almost a guarantee that the Super Bowl champ will be from one of these four elite teams from the AFC, but the cool thing about the NFL is that anything can happen and probably will. So don't take the NFC for granted - they just might pull out an upset.

NFC

Seattle Seahawks vs Chicago Bears

ZzzzzzZzzzzz... Yep! Boring, but if the Seahawks can score on the stingy defense of the Bears, we might be in for a good game. Seattle is obviously not the team that we saw last year, but they have pulled out some wins that have shocked a few people ( just look at last week's game against Dallas) and should not be underestimated by any means. If Rex Grossman plays like he did in the last game of the season against Green Bay, Chicago will be in for a long day and another playoff exit.

New Orleans Saints vs Philadelphia Eagles

Even though this should be a blowout for the high-powered offense of New Orleans, it probably won't be. The Eagles are playing with passion and like they have something to prove, since everyone counted them out after Donovan McNabb went down. They don't care who is standing in their way and with Jeff Garcia leading the charge anything can happen!

AFC

Indianapolis Colts vs Baltimore Ravens

I am predicting an instant classic! This game has the makings of being one of the greatest, you have the perfect matchup with an unstoppable offense taking on an unstoppable defense. You couldn't ask for a better game. Peyton Manning will have his work cut out for him though, staring into the eyes of Ray Lewis all day. This will be the true test to see if Manning can hang in the playoffs, make his career into a legacy and show he's not just another good quarterback who couldn't win big games. On the other hand the Ravens will be looking to prove they are as good as their record says they are and contain Peyton as much as possible. Expect a war!

San Diego Chargers vs New England Patriots

If you think Colts vs Ravens is going to be good, this game might be even better. LT is the most dominant running back we have seen in a long time and has yet to be stopped this season. Tom Brady is without a doubt one of the most successful quarterbacks of all time, if not the most successful. Two great Hall of Fame athletes battling to get to the Conference finals. It will most likely be a high scoring game, but once again, you never know in the NFL. Putting stock in history rather than this season's record, the edge definitely has to go Brady and the Patriots. Brady is like a man posessed when it comes to playoff and Super Bowl games and he has the rings to prove it. It will definitely be interesting and a must-see for all football fans.
