Chad Johnson, one of the most flamboyant personalities in the NFL, had a breakout performance, but it wasn't enough to get the win last Sunday.
Despite not being thrown to that much this season and the Cincinnati Bengal's record (4-5) showing the effects, Chad Johnson has remained somewhat calm and non-T.O. like. He has said things from time to time, but no one has blamed him for the Bengals troubles. It has been like a waiting game for the coaching staff to realize that the Bengals cannot win unless they get number eighty-five involved in the game. Last Sunday's match up against the San Diego Chargers was a whole other story altogether. Ocho Cinco set a new club record with 260 yards receiving on eleven receptions, and added a pair of touchdowns (one of which was a seventy-four yarder)! The game itself was a nail-biter and an offensive showcase by both teams, ending in a score of 49-41 and the Chargers biggest comeback in franchise history. Not to mention career days by quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Phillip Rivers. Palmer went 31 for 42 passing, with 440 yards and three touchdowns. Rivers threw 24 completions in 36 attempts for 337 yards and three touchdowns. And of course there was Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson who had what seems to be becoming a weekly four-touchdown performance. This game was an instant classic! Nothing could be a worse feeling than having the game of your life and still you end up losing. You have to feel for Chad Johnson, when he finally gets the ball and they still lose! There will be plenty of talk in Cincinnati this week. Does Chad Johnson want a trade? Will the Bengals make the playoffs? Is Marvin Lewis' job in jeopardy? We will just have to see, but things are not looking good for the struggling Bengals of Ohio.
