A 41-38 victory in overtime against the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, 232 yards passing, 4 touchdown passes, 40 yards rushing. Is it Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts? With those kind of numbers Peyton Manning is no brainer, but this week to everyone surprise it's the Atlanta Falcon's Michael Vick.
Michael Vick has had trouble throwing touchdowns and being an all around quarterback his entire 6 year career with the Atlanta Falcons. Week after week, Michael Vick has been critized with comments that he will never be a pocket passer and he is only a threat with his running ability. Week seven was a different story though, Michael Vick was unstoppable, run, pass, a presence in the pocket, he had it all Sunday. Connecting with his favorite target, tight end Alge Crumpler for three touchdowns and one to wide receiver Michael Jenkins. Michael Vick ended the MVP like performance with a 60.0 completion percentage and a 96.1 passer rating, which isn't spectacular, but in Michael Vick's case it's a change in the right direction. If the Michael Vick and Atlanta coach Jim Mora figure out a way to keep this kind of offense going, the Altanta Falcons will be serious contender for the NFC title.
Atlanta and Michael Vick will have their work cut out for them in week eight against another AFC North opponent in the Cincinnati Bengals. It should be a good one. These two teams need to keep winning in order to come out of their division on top and pave a road to the playoffs. Both teams are 4-2 and have some teams threatening to take the title in their division. The New Orleans Saints(5-1) in Atlanta's NFC South and the Baltimore Ravens(4-2) in Bengal's territory of the AFC North. Week eight will be the half way point in the NFL season, where the teams either self destruct or become playoff bound. Every game is must win from here on out.
